FIRES IN DUNEDIN.
HORSES BURNED TO DEATH. Per Press Association. Dunedin, November S. ' A five-stalied stable in King-strce, was destroyed by fire this evening, am, two horses valued at ,655 each burnea to death. The stable was owned b> R. Brown, and is believed to be insured. The two horses were owntct by F. Strang, a carter, and were no. insured. Three horses belonging to Purdie and Co. were saved.
BIBLE DEPOT DESTROYED. Per Press Association.. Dunedin, November 8. The Bible, Tract and Book Society's Depot in Princes-street wa completely destroyed by fire to-night, The build.ng, which was of wood and somewhat old, is owned by S. Solomon, and is believed to be insured. At a rough estimate, the Bible Society's stock was of the value of fully £SOOO. There is a fluctuating insurance policy on the stock in the Australian Alliance and four or five other companies, but particulars are not available. The origin of the fire is a mystery. The manager was in the building about 8 o'clock, and one of the employees at io o'clock, when everything appeared safe. There was no fireplace in the shop or upstairs..
