PHENOMENAL RAINFALL.
A phenomenal rainfall occurred over the greater part of Taranaki on Monday night. Especially so was this the ease ou the slopes of the mount; in, the gauge at the iNorth Eguiout fiousc showing that from 3 u'c.uck on Monlay afternoon to 7 o'clock ou Tuesday morning, the almost incredible quantity of 12-15 inches fell, h'or some time on Monday evening over an inch per hour was registered. The province received a soaking that will provide moisture tor some time to come.
