For the Test match at Moonee Ponds, the weather was bitterly cold, affecting the New Zealanders, several of whom were unable to play owing to influenza. The green was heavy, though it played well. The visitors were welcomed by Mr Patttson, Mayor 01 Essendon.
Sneddon led from the start and won •■asily. Scott got two five- and a six. Xea.l (Bendigo) had charge of the New South Wales rink, but Payne was in great form, and won handsomely. Cooper and Dall scored heavily throughout. Roberts had a good win in a very fine game. The finest play was shown by Waxman against McLaren. After the match against Victoria, a close game was anticipated, but Waxman. playing brilliantly throughout, scored a great win. Ikgot two sixes. Moody and Gardiner had a ding-dong game throughout. At the middle Moody led by 16, when Gardiner, with a couple of good even shots gained the lead. Australia won by only one (sic) point, the totals being—Australia 100, New Zealand 149.
