A KANAKA'S REVENGE.
MURDER OF A MISSIONARY. (PROTEST AGAINST KANAKA DEPORTATION. Received 29th 12,45 a.m. Norfolk Island. Sunday. Advices received from Noumea Mate that the Reverend C. C. Godden was murdered at the Island of Ap4. New Hebrides, on October 15, by a returned Kanaka, in revenge for being deported from Australia. There were no details. Mr Godden, who was 3" years of age, belonged to the Anglican Melanesian Mission, and had charge of the schools at Apa. He was an ex:student of Moore CClegc, Sydney, which he visited some ten months ago for the purpose of marrying. 'The cable mentions that Mrs Godden ji safe.
