BOWLERS ON TOUR.
MATCH AT MOON'EE PONDS. Received 26th, 9.23 c p.m. Melbourne, October 26. New Zealanders played at Moonee Ponds, where they rn<t a cordial reception. Lovely weather prevailed and the pavilion was embellished lavishly wuh words of greeting in Maori. The visitors were charmed with this, and the surroundings. They state the green is the liveliest they have experienced since their arrival in Australia. Play was generally of an even order, the New Zealanders evidently being more accustomed to the length than in yesterday's match. They consider that with a little more practice at this length green, they will be able to hold their own. Close results may be looked for in the match Australia versus New Zealand. At. the conclusion the New Zealanders were toasted, and acknowledged il a stirring shout in Maori: "We have come to see you, to learn from you. We have learnt, we appreciate your kindness." The locals were interested in the novel response.
THE FESTIVITIES. Received 27th, 1 a.m. Melbourne, October 26. The New Zealand bowlers were entertained by Mr Henry Skinner, president of the South Melbourne Cricket and Football Clubs, and the Albert Park Bowling Club. At eight o'clock eight rings engaged in a friendly match under brilliant electric light with the Albert Park Club. At 10 o'clock Mr Skinner entertained three hundred at a champagne •upper. All the officials of the Bowling Association were present, also the presidents and other officials of metropolitan dubs. It was a brilliant function. The Mayor of South | Melbourne said he recognised Wheelfir as a fellow-Bendigoian. Wheeler, responding, said the New Zealanders were travelling in the interests of sport. They would never forget the unique welcome extended 10 them by the Albert Park Club. All ;were delighted with the experience of bowling by electric light. Play was resumed till 10.45. The team is leaving Ballarat by the early morning route to Adelaide.
