Municipal Corpora110115i Amendment Bill, explained that the Bill embodied the recommendations of the Municipal Conference, bpecial inquiries made at his instructions by. competent authorities enabled nun to say that there was nothing in k' the Bill outside the recommendations. £ lof the Conference or that ought not' ' ;to be found in it. ' Mr Massey, accepting the explanation of the Premier, thought the Bill. of too important a character to bo dealt with so late in the session. H» didn't oppose the second reading, but would advise that the Bill go no further. Mr Grey agreed with Mr Massey.. Mr Barclay and Mr Wilford made' committee suggestions. The Premier thought the Bill; ought to become the law of the country this session. Several municipal conferences had urged action on the; various points. The. second reading, was carrier!,
