FEMALE SUFFRAGISTS.
WOULU-BE MARTYRS, London, Ociuber 24. Ten suffragettes were arrested, amongst w.ium was Mrs How Martyn, who. told the police she was an .enfranehsed woman of Australia once, and a candidate for election with twenty thousand voter-. She thicatened that if not admitted to the inner lobby she would cable the news of her exclusion to Australia, and they would soon see that Auitta'ia supported her. The Magistrate bound the suffragettes over to keep tile peace for six months. They declined to find surety, and all elected to be sent to prison for two months.

When charged, the suffragettes shouted and gesticulated, declining to recognise the Magistrate's authority. They renewed the uproar when sentenced, shouting: "Shameful outrages by the Liberal Government," and refused to leave the dock until foicc was used.
