t-ROM 01R OWN CORRESPONDENT. S. M. COURT. The ordinary monthly sitting of the S.M. Court was held ai Opunake on Wednesday October 17th, before Mr Huicheson. S.M. The following ease-, were dealt with:—

H. Ashr-r v. U . Humphries.—This was a claim for 40 for wages; a counter claim ivas entered for ,£lO 13 0 for food supplied and cash advanced. Mr McYeagh appeared foi plaintiff, and Mr McDavitt for defendant. Evidence in this case had been taken at a previous bitting of the court, and the S.M. delivered judgment for the plaintiff for the amcunt claimed, with costs v The counter claim was not allowed. The contention of the plaintiff's solicitor that food supplied dame under the provisions of the Truck Act being upheld by the magistrate.

A Maori Mate Haere was summoned for the maintenance of his son, an inmate of the Burnham Industrial School for arrears amounting to £l7. In this case it was shown by the police report that he was unable to paythrough ill health and the amount was remitted.
