A CUBAN CYCLONE.
THE WORST ON RECORD. FORTUNATE TIMELY WARNING GREAT DAMAGE TO SHIPPING AND CROPS Received 21st, 4.40 p.m. New York, October 20. Reports from Havana state that the recent cyclone was the wotst 011 record. ' Buildings were shaken as if by an earthquake, and many houses in the poorer quarter collapsed. Ninety four natives and sixteen foreign residents were killed. The fatalities would ha\fe been greater but for the timely warning which the people had of the approacli of the storm, enabling them a to gain shelic-r. Shipping in Havana Harbour suffered severely, no fewer than thirtyfour lighters being destroyed.
The American cruiser Brookl'yn became stranded, but was refloated s mewhat damaged. Extensive damage was done to the crops at Penadelrio.
