GRAND OPERA AT NEW PLYMOUTH.
The maiinee of the Faust Opera I Picture Company on Saturday afternoon was very well attended. All the pictures shown were clear, and of a high order. Of course, the film depicting the various scenes of Goethe's masterpiece opera of Faust easily took first place., and were "a revelation of cinematograph art. The temptation of Faust by Mephistopheles, the duel with Valentine, the casket scene, the beautiful pictorial interludes, and the final dramatic scenes, were faithfully represented. Had it not been for the absence of the music, one could have imagined he was witnessing a performance of, say, the New York Opera House. The scenes from the life of an American fireman wore very interesting, showing by way of introduction a tour through the ruins of San Francisco after the earthquake and fire. Funny pidturfes were exhibited plenty, and, taken altogether, the exhibition is one well worthy of a visit. The company appear in the Theatre Royal to-night, for ono night only, and at Waitara on Tuesday and Inglewood on Wednesday.
