SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The Schoitl Commissioners met on Fiiday last. Present: Messrs Jas. Wade (in the chair). Simpson and Eatil'. Aptdogics for absence were received ftum Messrs Jennings and Major, M.ll.R.'s, and it was decided that they have leave of absence from me present meeting. The lessee had allowed the trustees of the Methodist Church 10 erect a chapel or school building upon a portion of his land without first obtaining the sanction of the Board, it was resolved that it be suggested to Mr Wtlmsliurst that the grant on under-lease to the trustees of the part 01" the land on which the building s, ihe terms of the under-lease to be approved by the Board's solicitor without cost to the Commissioners. Meanwhile the Board would not waive its right to re-enter for breach oti covenant. Mr \V. A. Quin, lessee of parts of section iSy, Patea district (Hawcra suburbs), reported the total destruction by tire of the dwelling occupied bv his sub-tenant. The New Plymouth Borough Coun;il forwarded a cheque for fire insurtnce premium on the buildings of the Municipal Baths, and stated that th= layment was made under protest, l'he cheque was received without rromment. The widow of ihe late \Vm. Lunam ,vrote asking to be relieved of the case held bv him of section 44. block '<.., Ngatim'aru S.D. The Board retolved that a surrender be granted, >r that any other necessary steps to ice the land from the lease be allow:d Application having been made tc he Board for payment of rates on one if the reserves in the Stratford disrict, the secretary reported that lie lad visited the property and discused the position with the lessee, who low undertook to forthwith pay the ates and to liquidate the Board's tlaim for rem by regular monthly nstalmenis. The agreement was apiroved by the Commissioners. D. Sole submitted a report on reerves in New Plymouth, and the sccetary was instructed to communicate ,ith tenants whose holdings were adeisely commented upon. It was deided that Mr L. Frost and his mortgagee be notified that unless the urze was cleared oft' his street front - ge the Commissioners would re-enter nd terminate the lease. 1
