RAILWAY STATION ROBBED.
Melbourne, October 13. Two armed men entered the WariIcng railway station, and bound and gagged Braddish, assistant stationmaster. They stole a small sum of money and stamps, but overlooked a large sum in the safe. BUTTER CARRIAGE. - Melbourne, October 13. The Butter Export Committee i n October last entered into a three years' contract with a number of British shipping- companies, and it is now proposed to take advantage of a proviso allowing 12 months' notice to be given. It is understood the committee has information that wiih increase of shipping competition developments may be expected with the new mail contract. It can secure equally favourable terms elsewhere in addition to the advantage of more regular delivery. A VESSEL DETAINED. Melbourne, October 12. At a meeting of the Marino Board the Secretary reported that the steamer Lord Antrim had been placed under detention on account of defeeiively equipped lifebuoys, which required repairing. The supply of rockets was depleted. The utsped tion of the steamer was made at the instance of the Navigation Department. . - ■*■■
