EXHIBITION CADET ENCAMPMENTS.
GOVERNMENT TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY.
SPECIAL FACILITIES TO CADET CORPS. Per Press Association. Wellington, October g. > » In the House this afternoon, the I remier said the Government did not See its way to accede to the demands made for the concentration of a large cadet force at the Christchurch Exhibition, for the reason that the responsibility devolving on the Government would be too great. It was, he thought, better to leave the matter to the parents and officers. At the same time, ihe Government would be prepared to extend facilities to parents and officers who may wish to have individual corps encampments under t.ieir own care and responsibility. On no account, however, would the Government take responsibility for any Government organisation. It would probably result in those corps that were enthusiastic being represented, and (here might be large numbers. The arrangements would be for full cadeis cnly; it would not interfere with the district camps. The railways would g carry them free For ordinary school » c.iildren, arrangements have been al- " ady made, but the Government was not taking any responsibility.
