THE LAND BILL.
Per Press Association. Ashburton, October 6. At a large meeting to-day, convened by the chairman of the Ashburton County Council, to consider the Land Bill, the following resolutions were unanimously passed: "That, inasmuch as the provisions of the Land Hill now before Parliament would, if they became law, virtually revolutionise the existing land system, and entail consequences of the most farreaching character, this meeting is strongly of opinion that in justice to the inhabitants of the Colony, and more particularly of the farming community, whose interest are vitally affected by the measures, the Bill ought not to be further preceded will daring tho present session i f Parliament, so that the electors may, during the recess, have an opportunity of fully considering and discussing the Bill and expressing a matured opinion as to the advisability of its becoming law or otherwise."
