PUBLIC SERVICES REWARDED.
Per Press Association. Westport, October 3At a very largely attended meeting of representatives of the town and district held in the Victoria Theatre this evening, Mr F. J. Munro, the promoter of the Westport Stockton Coal Company, was the recipient of an illuminated address and a purse containing 150 sovereigns. The Mayor presided, and made an excellent speech eulogistic of Mr Munro's services on beha'f of the dis rict. His remarks were endorsed by several other speakers, and Mr Munro. in reply, traversed the st'ps taken by Irm to float the o mpany, and mention- d that there was now -uttic ient money in hand to push the w-rk through. and that he hoped the company won':! be sending out coal in a twelvemonths' time, or not later than Christmas of next year.
