The rccriponty proposals with South Africa provide for preference to butter, .dieesc and confectionery, twenty-live ijer cent, of the present value rate; dried lish 2s 4d per cwt.; fodder 25 per cent, of the present rate ; dried fruit one penny to lid per pound; green fruits, free; grain and Hour, 25 per •ent. of the present duty; oats, wheal iay, leather, agricultural and mining .aachmcry, bacon, hams, frozen beef, mutton, poultry, rabbits, and fresh smoked meats in tins, twenty-five per •ent. of present duties; spirits, excise cates plus 2 J per cent, of same ; sugar produced by white labour 2s, by black Is per hundred-weight; timber, dressed and undressed, twenty-live per cent, of the present rate; tobacco, nine-pence per pound; still wines, Is per gallon in oulk and 5s m bottles
