A SERIOUS CHARGE.
CHINAMAN ARRESTED FOR SHOOTING. VICTIM WOUNDED ON THE THIGH. Per Press Association. Dcnedtk, October 2. A nun named Feter McEwen, employed on the electric trains, *as received into the hospital to-night suffering from a ballet wound in the thigh. At preseut his condition is believed iiui to be serious. A Chinese fish-hawker named Lin Hoon has been ar.ested on a charge of shooting at McEwen.
The particulars available are meagre. It appears Lin Hoon has been molested a good deal by larrikins, and it is believed he thought AlcEwan was one of thou molesting him. As McEwau was walking home by way of Walker Street the Chinaman fired two shots it him from a six-chambered revolver, one of the ballets striking him on the thigh. When the Chinaman was arrested, he had a revolver on him, two chambers being empty.
