CONSIDERABLE LOSS OF LIFE. NUMBER OF VESSELS STRANDED. GREAT DAMAGE TO COTTON CROP. Received 2nd, 12.14 a.m. New York, October 1. One hundred persons perished at Mobile, and twentv-five at Pensaco'.a. Twenty-eight vessels are ashore on the Mississippi delta. The losses to the. cotton crop are estimated at five millions sterling.
