WALTER UEWLKY'S REPORT On Saturday 1 had a good entry of poultry which brought first-class prices, hens bringing i,'B to 210, pullets 2' to 2/4, cockerels 2/1 to 2% ducks 2/7. In the Mart a large quantity of sundries brought fair prices.

Apples are now very scarce and 1 sold a consignment of inferior Sturmers at 9/ and Newton Pippins at 8, per case. On Wednesday I lieid my monthly Hide Sale, and the steadily incresing quantity at each sale proves their growing popularity and that sellers are well satisfied. About 700 large and sma:l hides were sold at improved prices' and fully equal to outside markets, there being good competition for all lots. 1 also sold a quantity of wool and skins but these brought lower prices, than a coup'c of months ago in sympathy with the fall in outside markets. Calfskins brought from i.'q to 5/4, according to weight and con 'ition, over Od per lb being paid for good skins, good kips to 6Jd per lb. cowhides 181 to 24/, good oxhides 30/ to 33/, the bulk fetching the higher figure, and one particularly goo:' lot realising 41/, tallow 21/ per cwt., hair t 6 per lb, good ordinary skins 4/6 to 6,11, wool sjd to 6J per lb for pieces. 1

MR NEWTON KING S WEEKLY AUCTION REPORT.

Owing no doubt to the very wet weather last Saturday, no pigs came in to the llaymarket sale, and only one hack sold, the price realised being £(j 2/6. At the mart there was a moderate supply of poultry, which was sold at good prices. Hens made 1/8 to 2/2, cockerels 2/ to 2ii, ducks 2/ to 2/5, pure bred white Leghorns 5/7. Probably t'lie biggest crowd seen in an auction mart in New Plymouth for a considerable time was present at the sale of furniture on account of Mr T. \Y. Welch's estate. The quality of the goods being much superior to that usually seen in an auction room was no doubt responsible to a great extent fur the large attendance. The sale went with a considerable amount of vim, and excellent prices were received. Cattle.—At Richmond road on Monday there was a good attendance at Mr J. W. Kenwood's clearing sale. The cows were a nice lot. and, being in good condition, sold well. Springing heifers except for choice quality were dull of sale.
