SOCIALISM.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—lf Socialism be the panacea J'ouf correspondent alleges, the inauguration of a society for its promotion shou'd be hailed with jjplijfht by a'.J right minded citizens. So "far as piy reading goes I must honestly confess that I am strongly opposed to the spread of socialism, but perhaps I have got hold of a mistaken idea of the system, its object and its aims. Would it be too much to ask Rath Stern to give us a dear, concise deflation of what lie means by socialism and a succinct exposition of the benefits it has conferred on communities where it has hckl sway ? 1 do not want a column of cheap rhetoric and poetic flourishes, but a few simple senter;r <, - s Pf such a character that those who run in,"',' rc ad.—l am,etc., PATRIOT.
