SOCIALISM.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —1b your contributor a local resident ? If so, I wonder does tie think the formation of a Socialist Society in New Plymouth a possibility ? ith, say, a nucleus of a dozen earnest men and women with intellect thirsting to grow economically wise, and hearts pulsating with affection' and sympathy for the hapless of their kind, a considerable advance could be made At the least, it would consfituto an excellent piece of machinery for circulating socialistic literature nnd helping " the germ of the socialistic idea" to grow into a majestic spreading tree everybody would simply rush for shade and shelter. But no, the socialist ideal realised would prove too broad, too just, too benelicient to provoke rush or scramble, or selfaggression or vulgarity of any kind. I' hope your contributor shall have something to say on the suggestion I have tried to offer.—l am, etc., Bath Stebh.
