LESLIE HARRIS.

hJm e " t , ert * il > me nt submitted to the New Plymouth public at the Ih'atre Royal on Monday night was Perhaps the most delightful and reined two hours' amusement' ever given in New Plymouth. The attendance was fairly | argß but not so good as such a polished entertainment merited. There is not the slightest doubt that Mr Harris is a brilliant raconteur, and in each and every number his imitative ability was as clever and piquant as it was artistic and refined, Besides being a storyteller and a vocalist, his skill as a pianist is also utilised, and the manner in which he transposed the Honeysuckle and the Bee" into a hymn and then played it as it might have- been composed by Chopin Wagner, or Mendelssohn was marvellous The duet, "The Singing Lesson, by Miss Buckman and Mr Harris, was a charming and artistic item, which delighted the audience immmensely. Kight through the programme the various emotions of the audience were truly appealed to. 1 he artist would have the house'simmering over with mirth in one item and m the succeeding turn he would perhaps recount some pathetic incident that was splendidly portrayed, and the audience would t be swaved accordingly. Miss Rosina Buckman was in splendid voice for her vocal items, and her rendition of Tostis "Good-bye" won for her a deserved encore; in fact, everv time Miss Buckman appeared she w'as vigrously recalled. Her fu.fl, mellow soprano was probably never heard to better advantage i n New Plymouth. Should Mr Leslie Harris 'ever pay a return visit to the town he a bound to be heartily welcomed, as a better entertainer could not be wished for.
