ISLAND STEAMER ASHORE.

(Per l'ress Association.) Auckland, September 10. News per Taviuni stales that the s.s. Alua ran on a reef in Apia harbor when leaving for Suva. One of the engines would nol work, and the steamer went up on the reef for 15 feet. It is stated that the steamer was leaking, evidently having several plates lamaged. A Marine Board enquiry into the accident was to take place at Suva on September sth. The Alua is •lue at Sydney to-morrow.
