At a largely attended meeting of farmers, merchants, and millers, a resoiut 'H> was passed expressing Strong disapimival of the tariff proposals f.r admitting flour, oatmeal, and articles manufactured from cereals free, as such action would be disastrous to tin- farmers of (lie colony, especially these on small holdings, wheso chief product is wheat, and if carried into effect would mean great depreciation in the value of agricultural land in the colony. Waihi, September 5. At a meeting of the Seddon Policy Continuation League, it was resolved to submit to Government and Patliameni that while temporary dislocation of trade may occur through adopting the Reciprocal Tariff, the interests of consumers are of more importance than the bolstering up of the sugar and milling industries, and it therefore ugrcs that the tariff proposals be given effect to. Auckland, September 5. Auckland Trades and Labor Council passed a resolution this evening disapproving of the reciprocal treaty.
