HIGH COMMISSIONER'S ADVICE. (Per Press Association.) Wellington Sept 3. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner dated London September 1 st: — Mutton: the market is dull at last quotation. The Lamb market is weak, and forced selling still continues. Canterbury brands are quoted at 4jd to -)} d per lb, other than Canterbury Lamb is selling at 4}d to 4|d per lb. The beef market is steady at" 3jd to 2|d per lb for hind forequarters respectively. Choice New Zealand butter is steady at 112/ tOM 4, per cwt. Danish is quiet at 122/, and Canadian makes are quoted at m/ per cwt. The cheese market is firm and a good demand is experienced. Canadian is quoted at 62/ per cwt. There are no stocks of New Zealand on hand. The hemp market is quiet but steady, g.f.a.q. Wellington on spot is quoted at £33 io' to £34 per ton, and the same quotation applies to October and December shipments. The price of fai rcurrent Manilla on spot to day is per ton. The cocksfoot seed market is dull. The price for bright clean seed 17 lbs to the bushel, is nominally quoted at 45/ per bushel. The woo! market is steady and the consumption is large. The current quotations for Bradford tops are 56 s low crossbreds 1/4Jd per lb, 40's do do i/si, 44's medium 1/7, 50's half breds 1,11, 50's quarter breds 2/01, 6o's merinos 2/3.
