EDISON'S PICTURES.

There was only a fair attendance tost night, nl " Kdison's Pictures," about the lines!; moving picture display ever produced m New Plymouth. A compleic absence from dicker, brilliant illuininatiou, and a well-assorted and most interesting collection made the entertainment nn unique success Perhaps the best picture was that of the visit of a number of lady collegiate students to the popular Coney Island holiday resort. After escaping the vigilance of the lady principal, they embarked 011 a series of amusements, the reproduction of which caused hearty roars of laughter. The San Francisco series was the best shown here, the pictures, clear ami interesting, showing the miles of ruins, the iriny pack bringing in food .supplies to the famishing thousands, dynamiting tho dangerous rums, and the rescue of a soldier from tho debris; the frantic efforts of the populace to save their goods and chattels from the doomed quarters as the lire (shown 111 the background) canunties its progress. Views of the railwav, great station buildings etc , from ■1 moving train arc very flno, cspecia lly •u dealing with Brooklyn Bridge. Tlio " life of ail American policeman ' series was well worth seeing, and the rescue of a fait' equestrienne from a bolting horse by a mounted constable raised the house to a high pilch of enthusiasin. The audience were given the op.iortunsty of _seeing the feats of a It -st-class Chinese juggler, whilst the " dream of a rarebit iieud," introducing 1 view of New York city from an nit" diip, was as marvellous as it was humorous. Many humorous films ■vere shown, an I altogether the show •vas one that was well worth the price >1 adurssion. There will be a change Programme to-night, when pictures fjf Princess Ena's sensational marriase tyiil be shown.
