THE "NEWS" SEARCHLIGHT.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Allow me to compliment you on the improvement in the "Daily News" since you took over the editorship. I have known the paper for nearly a quarter of a century, but it is only within the last few months that it has been at all readable. We are beginning to know something now of the doings of our public bodies, and your reports of some of their remarks are both original and practical. What can better represent a speaker's ideas than his actual words ? Your quoting the exact words of one of the speakers at the last Education Board meeting has given material for thought and comment. Go on and prosper. Let us have thoughts pure and undefiled as they fall from the speaker's lips, without evasion, equivocation, or reservation of any kind, and you will gratify NO SHAM.
