CYCLING TEST RACE.

Tlie Otago sub-test road race, run on Saturday from Henley Ferry Bridgo to Lovell's Flat and back, a distance of Hi milos, was won by tho limit man, B. Stratton (15 min. start). His actual filling time was 2hr lmin lsec. Roxburg (Hmin start) rode the distance in 2hr ISsec, and was second, with Cockerill, lhr 59raia leasee, third. W. Withey (Palmcrston South), with omin start, put up the fastest time, lhr Ssmin, and he intends to compete m the Timaru race. Thero wore 26 starters. The fast time is accounted for by the road being m splendid order, and the absence of wind.
Owing to the (Jhristohurch handicapper having somewhat overestimated Otago ruler i" abilities, Withey and hi« brother and Carnegie are the only probable starters in the northern raoe.
