A g-ood many of the cows; were backward, on the ag'-u side, and not in the best of condiii-n. All young and near calving were u !i competed

for and sold well, and the balance made full market value. Springers made ,£5/10 to £7/10, October and November calves &4 to ,£5 10/, old cows £1 to £2 1/, heifers in calf £2 1 z/6 to £3/15-.

WALTER BF.W I.F.Y'S REPORT. At the mart on Saturday I had an exceptionally large entry of poultry, which realised excellent prices, hens bringing 1/1 to 2/I,pullets 1/5 to 2/1, cockerels 1/2 to 2/9, Guinea fowls 6/per pair, turkeys 5/6 to 7/-, ducks 1/7 to 1/9. A large quantity of plants and sundries sold at usual rates. On Tuesday I held a clearing sale at Mr P. Jackson's farm, when prices for dairy cattle were on the low side, owing- to the low and backward condition of the herd, and also to the fact that the pick had been sold privately, which is a most unwise course for anyone holding a clearing sale. Prices for store cows were from £\ 5/ t0 £-3 5/-j and for dairy cows from £4 to £b 7/6, 2J year old steers £5 5/6 yearlings ,£1 9/6, mare £2l) 15/I also sold 10,000 ft of bridge framing timber on the same day at the Oakura bridge at prices in favor of purchasers. On Wednesday I held a clearing at Huirangi on account of Mrs Hudson, in glorious weather. There wa? a verylarge atendance and with the care thai had been taken of the live and dead stock and generous attention to the wants of the purchasers, a most successful sale resulted. A first class lot of cows with Jersey and Ayrshire strains realised up to £% 5/-, Ayrshire bull £5, draught horses £26 10/ to ,£2B 10/'-, hacks £3 to .£l2, trap £l2 is/-, dray £q, harrows £3 10/- to £3 12/6, potatoes 2d to 4d per b. A large quantity of sundries in good order made excellent pries.

BUCKLAND'S REPORT,

(Special to " News). AUCKLAND, August 24.

Horses : Active draughts ,£26 to £3O, superior hacks and harness £l6 10/- to £27, ponies and ordinary hacks £3 10/- to £ll 5/-. At Remucra, there was a full supply of beef. Prices were slightly lower. Steers ranged from to £l2 10/-, cows £5 to 7 15/-. Sheep: There was a good muster, and sold at recent values. Wethers to 27/6, ewes to 26/6, hoggets to 22/6, spring lambs wanted 23/3 to 26/. Pigs : There was a full yarding, and all lines sold freely. Weaners made to 14/-, pokers to 35/-, baconers to 65/.
