LEPPERTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
Spring is with us, and is putting on glorious apparel. We have almost forgotten that las-t month saw us complete 2t> consecutive days with rain, and that for the year just ended we smoked our pipes under 73m of the fourth element. The rumble of the milk tumbrils is daily gaining a more solid sound. Early cows, early season, good grass, good prices, good cheques, good Heaven —what more is needed? Our annual ball is to take place next month. A strong committee has been elected, and the affair promise.-; to be even more successful than in years past. The next tournament between the Town and Country draughts teams will be held in the local hall ,and I understand the odds arc on the rustics.
Farmers are on the move- Mr Foster has left us, and Mr Johnstone is just moving' out. Two men we can ill spare. Fully half the farms of this district must have changed hands during- the last five years. Signs of the times: who can read them ?
Lepperlon is fast blossoming into a township. The first signboard has appeared, though it is s)cill found necessary to graze the thoroughfares with municipal stock. Needless to say they arc the sleekest in "lace.
