WESTERN PARK.
A very successful euchre party in aid of the Western Park funds was hold on Thursday night in the West End school. About a hundred and fifty were present, including strong contingents from Moturoa and Westown, Nineteen games were played. j For first honors in the ladies' section, Mrs Percy Jury and Miss Flossie Ward tied with 15 games each jin the play off, Mrs Jury won, and was presentcd with a manicure set, Miss .Ward winning a bread board, which [ was given by Mr W. H. Beadle. The gentlemen's first prize, won by Mr Knott, with 15 games, was a handsome silver-mounted pipe, kindly donated by Messrs L. D. Nathan and Co.; for plaos, Messrs W. Reid, J. Hobb and G. Hooker tied with 14 games, and in the play off Mr Reid won the usoful moustache cup donated by Mr L. Hammond. Mrs Dowling presented tho prizes. Mr Tisch proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the ladies' committee who always worked hard to bring the different parties to a successful issue. The vote was carried with three ringing cheers. The West-own folk have intimated their intention of challenging the West End players at euchre during the next moon, proceeds to be given to the Western Park. Apart from looking forward to a pleasant evening, the West End committee have their thoughts ou tho shillings for the Western Park, the completion of whjch they are striving for.
