MB TBBSS ASSOCIATION. Neison, August 17. At a largely attended meeting tonight, the Mayor, Mr J. Piper, was presented with an address signed by over 600 ratepayers, expressing appreciation of the zealous and consistent manner in which be had defended their best interests in his official capacity as Mayor, and begging him to accept a purse of sovoreigns, not is compensation for doing what he con. sidered his duty, but simply as a token of their approbation of the stand he bad takes in municipal matters and trusting] that under his rule and guidance the several affairs of the oity would assume a more prosperous aspect. Mr {Graham, M.H.R, presided, and tbe presentation was made by the Hon. F. Trask.
