PERSONAL.
A press message states that the Hon. J. Rigg has resigned the Presidency of the Independent Labor League. Constable Hyde, of Stratford, brought his little son in to the New Plymouth Hospital on Tuesday, to have an operation performed on his leg. Much sympathy is felt for the popular constable in the midst of his troubles. The death occurred at Hawera on Monday of Mrs Guenn, wife of Mr William Guerin and mother of Mrs A. J. Whittaker (Hawera), W. J. Guerin (New Plymouth), and J. Guerin (Wanganui). Deceased arrived in the colony with her husband some 40 years ago, and after a loug residence in New Plymouth removed to Hawera. She had boon in failing hoal.h for some time, and passed peacefully away at the good age of 78. The funeral takes place to-day.
