SUPREME COURT.
Per Press Association. Chwstchubch, August 13, Francis Henry Bruges, solicitor, and James Goodman, clerk, were charged at tho Supreme Court to-day with, stealing £260 in March, 1001, and £2OO. in April, 1903, belonging to Henry Tuck. Evidence was given that tho moneys were handed by Tuok to Goodman to be invested on mortgage, but they were not so invested, and Tuck had lost the money. Bruges stated he was absolutely unaware that such transactions had bren carried on, sni he had been misled by Goodman. The money lending portion of the business, was under the control of Goodman, * Latbb. •In the Bruges-Goodman ease, no evidence was called on behalf of Good* maa. The jury retired at half.past M$- * and at 11.45 p.m. returned with a verdict of " Guilty" against both acoused, They were remanded till to-morrow for. sentence.
