THE BUNNYTHORPE DYNAMITE OUTRAGE.
Per Press Association. Palmuuston Nohtu, August 9. At the police court to-day, John •fame Gillies, proprietor of a butter factory at Bu'nnythorpe, was charged «ith wilfully placing an explosive in Nathan and Co.'s dried milk factory at Bunnythorpe on July 22, an d thereby causing damage to the amount of £250. Soveral witnesses were examined this morning as to tlio extent of the damage. Detective Quirko detailed a lengthy conversation lie had with accused, with the object of showing that Gillies' business V would be affected by the re-opening of tho dried milk factory. Gillios admitted to the detective being out just before tho explosion, between two and three 0 clock in the morning, but s iid he went into his brother's house for medicine for a child.
Lateh, John Jarvie Gillies was committed I"! - trial. The evidence of the detecuves showed that accused said he went out to his brother's about the time of the explosion, to get some medicine for a sick daughter, but the brother denied that the visit took place. Other evidence was circumstantial.
