H.UJAYAY DEVIATION '' MATTIiIIS. f, A special meeting of the New Ply- '' moulh Ihroiigh Council was held at y Ihe Boi'ongh Chambers yesterday afternoon. Present: His Worship (Mr E. , Dockrill), Crs lirown, MontcatU, S Collis, Brooking, Martin, "Webster, > liellriiiger. It was resolved, after consideration, that in connection with the deviation, 'i the Railway Department bo requested to provide the following facilities: — > 1. An overhead footbridge at Waimann street be erected when required • by the Council to provide access to the ; beach. c 2. Thai the Council agree to the closing of the present Goyer street and the construction of new ttover street in accordance with the plan submitted by the district engineer subject to the following conditions : Buller street to bo graded full width o£ the street in accordance with the new levels in the } plan attached. The Department to a indemnity the Couucil against any t claims for compensation for alterations m the Hied levels of Buller street (note new levels are about 2ft. higher tiian the fixed levels). Any alterations required to the tunnel m the present Govcr street to be made al the expense of the Railway Department. 3. That the traffic bridges to be erected by the Department over the railway ut Goyer street, Eliot street and Hobson street to be the full width of the road and at the leyols as at present graded and metalled. 4 Sub-way to be erected at Autere street to provide access to the East End Bathing Reserve. 5 That a station for the East End of the Borough be providul as near Hobson street as possible. G. That when the deviation is eilected the portion of Leach and Hobson streets occupied by the present railway revert back to the Council. 7. That as requested by the Borough Council, the County Council and the Henui Road Bjard, the Department, after the deviation is effected, hand over to the authorities interested the present line and bridge from Watson street to Payuters Lane to b.' utilised for the driving of caltle an I other traffic. It was als) vesjlved to ask the Department if they have any spare earth from the deviation wjrki, to inform the Council.
