CABINET RE-CONSTRUCTION.

Speaking to a representative of the " North Otago Times," the Hon. T. Y. Duncan said he thought that as soon as Sir Joseph Ward is ready—probably within a day or two of his arrival—Mr J LalJ-Jon.cs, the Premier, will resign, and the constitutional effect will be that the whole Cabinet will go at the same lime out of otliee. Mr Duncan said all the talk of Cabinet reconstruction was idle, The lieu- Premier would select his own colluaguos, as he thought lit, and no one could possibly know what he might and might not do. Sir Joseph Ward would have an absolutely free hand, and could please himself.

Willi reference to his scat in the Cabinet, Mr Duncan remarked to a " Mail " interviewer that he had read and heard of an agitation that had in view his deposition from Cabinet rank. He hoped he would not be considered egotistical when he said that he did not know who would take his place. There Has, so far as he knew, no one in the present ilouse who hid qualified himself for the position. Sir John MclCcnzie and he had worked together for the most part in all that made the present laud system so eminently desirable, and it was at the earnest solicitation of that doyen of land legislation that he had acccpfed the position which he now held.
