Lord St. Aldwyn, addressing fifty moinbcrs of Colonial Chambers of Commerce at a banquet at Bristol, suggested the possibility of improving the commercial relations of the Empire, without raising Free Trade, if (fee colonies would consider a reduction of their tariffs on artieles Britain was most capable of exporting, the Mother, land accepting this as a contribution towards the great cost of Imperial dofence.
