SYDNEY TRAMWAY TROUBLE
DEPUTATION TO THE PREMIER. Received 31, 11.5i> p.m. Svdnf.y, July 31. A deputation of tramway men asked Mr Ctfruthcri to appoint a Koyal Commission to inquire into their gricvanccs. The Premier pointed out that ths men had taken an erroneous course. They were public servants, bound to obey the regulations under which the railways were run. The Commissioners were not Government persons respon-: sible under the law. He advised them to submit their grievance* to the Commissioners who would give an assurance to appoint an independent board of inquiry. If shown that the presen! machinery was not capable <>f dealing with the grievances, then, lv.it not till then, would he invoke a Koyal Commiasion.
