TARANAKI EDUCATION BOARD.

The Education Board resumed its sitting on Wednesday. Tlio Finance Committeo rccomnirvided: That the application of the Upper Wimgamomona committeo for a grant for repairing the school fence be referred to the chairman, with power to act; that £2 be granted towards cost of new tank nt Tiitutuwa, and that a range be provided for the residence ; that tko architect bo asked to remedy the smoky chimney at Hahotu ; that with regard to the committee's letter on the matter of obtaining additional classes at Ngairo school, the committee be requested to ascertain whether the tenant of the five acres of school site leased will surrender his leaso, and on what terms; that tlio Board adhere to its decision declining to connect the Inglewood headmaster's residence with the borough drainage systom; that tko West End school committee bo informed that the ; amount of subsidy agreed to be paid : for levelling part of the school ground i will be forwarded on receipt of tho , architect's certificate that the work is ' completed, but that the request for a supply of hose bo declined i that the . Pembroke road committee's letter, i asking for repairs to the roof of the [ school be referred to the architect p with instructions to effect the necesi sary repairs; that on Mr Fault's recommendation 10 posts and I cwt, wire, a 10-feot 5-barrcd gate and hingos, to the Waihi school; that the j matter of felling bush on the Talu school site be referred to tho chairman with power to act j that the time for receiving tondcrs for erection of j Mangapapa school be extended for a month ; that the architect enquire and [ report on alterations and painting rej quired at Fitzroy residence ; that the j architect bo instructed to have pro- . vision mado for accommodation of gardening tools, at Stratford, the cost not to exceed £2 ss. ' Tho Norfolk road school committee was granted permission to remove the ' two lower steps on the floor. A now * rango will be provided and placed in the residence. The School Commissioners asked the Board to give official assurance ?■ that a substantial fenco be erected free 1 of cost to Mr Barker between his land i and the acre acquired by the Kent r road school committee as an addition 3 to the playgrounds, i The Ingleivood committeo denied i that any wilful damago hid been done to tho basins m the lavatories, but the . fault evidently lay in the fact that , they had been placed in position in a 2 most slipshod and insecure manner. Tho committee suggested that the now basins should bo erected in a more ; secure manner, and that the lavatories 1 be better ventilated. Tho matter is in the hands of tho Board's architect.
