FOOTBALL.

OTAGO UNIVERSITY v. INVEBCABGILL. PES PRESS ASSOCIATION'. IsvEBCABoitL, July 25. sity t. Invercargill Club, was played The football match Otago Univer-to-day in steady rain on a sodden ground, and ended in a draw, without score. THE ASSOCIATION GAME. The following is the Eltham team to play against New Plymouth at Inglewood to-day, in the match which decides the championship of Taranaki: D. McDonald, A. Beesley, P. McDonald, Hutchinson, Moir, Burke, Crabtree, Chadwick, Glaister, Cam-' cross and Cave. Emergency : Burgess. The team, says the Elthain " Argus," seems to hare given general satisfaction. The team chosen, as could only be expected, is chiefly composed of players with a previous knowledge of the game, and will certainly ensure combination. The Hawera full-backs, Dr Deck and Edwards, thoroughly understand each other. At right winghalf Hutchinson (Eltham) plays to Crabtree and Chadwick his club mates, with Glaister in centre, while on the other wing at half-back, Walker (Kaponga) can be relied on to combine readily with his club mates Lewis and Dr Maclagan. The centre half position will be safe with an experienced player like telly playing there, and for goalkeeping, McDonald (Eltham), a last year's Otago player, proved beyond doubt that he can fill that position.

" Spectator" writes:—Seoinjrthat wo have two or three Thursdays without matches in New Plymouth, it has been suggested that the l'nion arrange a match between the Seniors now in town and the Juniors. There has been a good deal of speculation as to which team would win, and a match between them would, I believe, give the spectators a good game to watch, and at the same time keep the players fit I hope the Union will see its way to arrange a match.
