THE RACECOURSE TRAGEDY.
CLERGYMAN IMPEACHES Till-: CHIEF SECRETARY. FURTHER ARRESTS MADE. Melbovrnb, July 21. The Bcv. Mr Worral in a sermon at Beudigo denounced Sir Samuel Gillott (Chief Secretary) in connection with the recent gambling tragedies, and impeached him as responsible for the blood flowing from the wounds of the gamblers. It was nonsense for him to pretend that he was powerless to stop the scourge, which was creating a very Gethsemane of woe and trouble. Mr Bent (the State l'remier) states that he will arrest Mr Worral if potsible, adding, "I'll straighten him ftp!" Mr Worral in an interview states that the tragedy at Flennngton would never have occurred if the authorities had exercised the power the law gate them.
Several further arrests hare been made in connection with the bookmaker MeLeod's death. His mother has gone uuane from the shock and is confined in an asylum.
