CRICKET NOTES.
[BT COTIR POINT.] Mr Charles Absolem, the oldest living cricketer, attained liis eighty-ninth year on Derby Da/, May 29th. He took part in several second-class matches in 1904. The M.C.C. have already selected six of the proposed team to visit New Zealand in October next. They are as follows: —Mr C. E de Trafford (Leicestershire), Mr P. R. May (the crack Cambridge University bowler), Mr G. H. Simpson-Hayward (of Cambridge University and Worcestershire), Mr P. R. Johnson (of Eton and Somersetshire), Mr G. T. Branston (the Oxford University crack), and Mr W. J. Cnrwen, who is unknown to reputable English cricket. Mr P. R. Johnson is a New Zealander by birth, and formed one of P. F. Warner's undefeated team that yisited ! New Zealand in 1902-3.
The team so far is distinctly weak, and the remainder of-the team to be selected will need to be tip-top to defeat the puk of New Zealand.
1 hare to thaak Mr P. F. Warner for an autograph copy of "Our tour in South Africa." It is written in the author's well-known bright style, and with the usual number of personal prenouns.
By the last mail I received from Dr Leathama book containing full page photos of the first-clas9 countries and the averages of all EngUsh players of note. It is published at the marvellously low price of one penny, As the Nbws is posted Home regularly to our worthy medico I take this opportunity Of thflpVinff him.
