THE MURDERER ARRESTED. ADMITS HIS GUILT. Beceived 17.10.37 p.m. Stdnbt, July 17. Brown was arrested by Sergeant Cane at Dunrille Creek, on the TweedLismore railway, having travelled sixty miles since the night of the tragedy. He submits quietly and admitted killing the O'Eeefe's and Gilhck.
GRUESOME DETAILS. Beceived 18,12 29 a.m. SVDNET, July 17. Excepting that he had changed his clothes, Brown made no attempt to disguise himself or to hide. He told enquirers that he was on his way to Tenterfield. When Sergt. Kane accosted him, Brown gave a false name. Questioned regarding the scratches on his face, he threw down his swag and the Sergeant] seized and handcuffed him. He then said he might as well make a ilean breast of it, and confessed. His swag contained a bloodstained bayonet, which he admitted was used in killing one of his victims. It transpires that O'Kccfe was smothered with a towel, and had no wounds. Mrs O'Eeefe was stabbedand Gillick had Sis head split open.|
