The Natal Government state that when it was found that Bambaata's body was putnfied, and it was impossible to remove it to camp for purposes of identification, a doctor removed the head and took it to camp, when it had been identified and photographed, and buried with the body. The head ~ was never sent round the country to convince the natives that Bambaata was dead.

The Government state the campaign has been conducted as humanely aspossibly. Some isolated inst antes of brutality on the part of troopers mar hare occurred. Natives in one instance outraged women. When fighting in the bush agamst overwhelming numbers, it was impossible to take prisoners.
