METEOROLOGICAL.
PEB PBESS ABSOCITION. GISBOBNE, July 16. The heavy rain (which sat in on Saturday after the longest spell of fine weather fur many years) still continues with a very rough sea along the coast The rivers in the district are all bankers. The steamer Haupiri arrived from Auckland via the coast tonight. The Tarawera left about 3.30 a.m. to-day, and in the ordinary course should haie reached Napier before noon.
WEIiMNGTON, July 16. The weather in Wellington is miserably wet and cold. Auckland, July 16.
To-day is the twentieth consecutive day upon which rain has fallen. The meteorological readings for the fortyeight hours onding at 9.30 a.m. this raormug show a rainfall of 1.39 inches which brings tho total rainfall for July up to 4.87. 'lhis constitutes a record, the avowge rainfall for the whole month of Ju'.y for many years past being 1.83 inches.
