The Steeples resulted Decoration (Chevally) 1. Syringa (Smith) 2, Bellis (Regan) 3. Betting: 5 to 1 Bellis, 6 to 1 Decoration, Bto 1 Boisdale, to 1 Syringa. The first away were Abdallah and Bombastes, and the latter led out of the straight. Stockman fell at the treble. Passing the stand the order was: Officer, Boisdale, Spring, field, 1,. p-to-Date, A-bdallali, Decoration, Syringa. The stonewall proved fatal to Lothian, Baronet, and General Along the river Boisdale was leading by two lengths, with Officer next, and the field spread out. Svringa took charge at the far turn, where he led Boisdale by three lengths, with Decoration five lengf.is away. Decoration beaded the leader before the abattoirs was_ reached, and at the sheds had a good lead from Syringa, w.th Springfield and Belhs nest Bellis put in°a fast run, but never came near the leaders, Decoration running home a very easy winner by fifteen lengths. Syringa beating Bellis by four lengths. Bombastes was fourth, and Up-to-Date eighth. Boisdale turned a turtle at the last fence, and Voung Crcswick also fell. Time, ij.3l.
