NEWTON KING'S REPORT. At the llayiiiarket on Saturday only a few pigs came forward. Small stores made 17s lid to 2os, slips Ss to 15s, horse trap and harness' LH, tt ir> horse L(i ss. At the mart poultry sold fairly well. Pullctf made Is ad to 2s kl, cockerels Is Id to 3s, hens Is Id to 2s, ducks Is lid to 2s. The special sale of fur eoods attracted a good attendance, and fair prices were realised.] JJ3 On Friday, the lith inst., I held a most successful sale of furniture in the Drill Hall on occount of a gentleman who has left the district. The attendance was probably a record one, and prices on the whole were satisfactory. On Wednesday I held an unreserved sale of fruit and shelter trees, etc.. on account of Messrs Laird and Son. There was a geod attendance, and everything sold satisfactorily. Fruit: Prices during the past week were as follows : Dessert apples 10s to 12s, cookers lis (id to Us, granges 5s to Bs, mandarins its (id, lemons Is to ss. Cattle: At Stratford on Tuesday owing to the stormy weather, there was a smaller yarding and attendance than usual. Httracted, however, by sever, 1 unreserved lines, a good many buyersbraved (lie elements, and nearly everything was sold cither at the hammer or privately, young cattle making improved prices. Calves made 10s to 15s lid, 2 year steers L2 lis (id, 21 year do. L:t Is to L 3 Bs, 4 year bullocks L 3 Ills lid. store cows Ll 2s to LI 12s (id, fat and forward do. L 3 IDs to Ll, 18 months empty heifers 25s to 30s. At JKahotu on Thursday there was a decided improvement m prices. Calves made 7s (id to 15s (id, 18 mas. to 2. year steers 32s to 465, 2 to 21-year do. L 3 (is 6d, yearling heifers 23s lid, Jersey do. 32s (id, heifers in calf L 3 Is, forward springers L 3 17s (id to L 5 store cows 30s to 355, fat and forward do. L 3 Is to L:i 16s.
Dairy stock : On Monday, at Rowan, Lheld a clearing sale on account of fir Lowry, when there was a good attendance, and excellent prices were realised.
