LARGE FOUNDRY CLOSES UP. BUSINESS SLACK. Received 13, 11.21) p m. Melbourne, July 13. The Pha?nix Foundry, at Ballarat, which, in the heyday of its prosperity manufactured over a million and aquarter sterling worth of locomotives and railway rolling stock, has closed down. The main cause was the withdrawal of locomotive construction by the Government, and there being no regular demand for mining machinery.
