ASSESSMENT COURT.

FBtt PBBSS ASSOCIATION. Dcnbdin, July 13. A sitting of the Assessment Court for Tokomairiro district was held today, in which a good deal of interest was taken, many farmors taking strong exoeption to the Government valuations. Originally 50 objections were put in, but in half of these compromises were arrived at, and in others objections were not supported, ffo settleinent was arrived at m six cases. After hearing the evidence, the Court reduced the valuation in these six oases'; one, however, being subject to the condition that the Court had power to do so. The farm in this case was leased by a mother to her son, who paid a rent which supported the Depirtment's valuation. Counsel contended that the valuation had to be fixed according to the evidence and not according to rental.
